Kernan A. Hand, Jr.

Kerry Hand is a partner in the firm and specializes in income tax and strategic planning at the federal, state and international levels; trust and estate planning; corporate law; and wealth preservation. Kerry is a Board Certified Tax Specialist as certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization.

Kerry represents clients in a variety of commercial transactions, including reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate. He represents companies doing business throughout Louisiana, Texas and Florida. Kerry also practices in the area of elder law and advises on disability planning and Medicaid eligibility. He is experienced in the preparation of special needs trusts for disabled individuals.

Kerry has successfully represented clients before the United States Tax Court and the Board of Tax Appeals.

Kerry is a founding member and former Secretary-Treasurer of the Arts, Entertainment and Sports Law Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association. He is experienced in tax issues affecting the film and television industry. He has advised clients seeking to qualify for and acquire movie and infrastructure tax credits.

Kerry is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants, Section of Taxation of the American Bar Association, New Orleans Estate Planning Council, Louisiana State Bar Association and several civic and local organizations.

As a speaker, Kerry has made presentations to the Houston Income and Franchise Tax Committee, the Northshore Estate Planning Council and various groups of certified public accountants and life insurance and financial planning professionals. Kerry is a featured speaker at the firm’s annual C.P.A. seminar discussing topics ranging from income tax planning, estate planning, asset protection strategies and federal and state tax incentive programs.
