James G. Burke, Jr.
James Burke, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, has been practicing law for more than 40 years. He attended Tulane University, earning his Bachelors Degree in 1954 and his L.L.B. in 1959. While at Tulane University, Jimmy was an elected member of Phi Delta Phi. He also served in the United States Navy Reserve and was discharged as a Lieutenant Commander.
Jim’s legal practice specializes in admiralty & maritime, casualty and commercial litigation. Jim is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, the United States Supreme Court, U S Court of International Trade and all Louisiana state courts. He has also practiced law in the United States District Courts of Alabama, Mississippi, New York, Montana and Texas.
He is currently an active member of the New Orleans, Louisiana State, Federal and American Bar Associations as well as the Maritime Law Association of the United States, Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, Transportation Law Association and the Association of Average Adjusters.
