Trust & Estate Planning

We are recognized as one of the largest and most accomplished estate planning and administration groups in Louisiana. There is no substitute for experience. Most of our lawyers in this group have been practicing in this field for more than 35 years. Six of our group are certified by the Louisiana Bar Association as specialists in estate planning and administration.

We work with clients to design, implement, and update sophisticated estate plans to accomplish family and business goals, to protect assets, and to minimize taxes. Our services include the preparation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, living wills, family partnerships and limited liability companies, grantor retained annuity trusts, charitable lead and remainder trusts and charitable family foundations.

Our expertise in tax and business issues allows us to assist with business succession planning and changes in the management and ownership of family businesses, both during lifetime and at death, thereby assuring continuity and value for family, shareholders, employees, and customers. The long-term health of a family-owned business requires careful attention to the needs of the business and, at the same time, to the needs of the family.

We represent executives, trustees, and beneficiaries in the administration of estates to efficiently transfer assets resulting from death, including the marshalling and valuation of assets, accountings, post-death tax planning and retitling of assets. Our firm's expertise in business and real estate transactions can assist in complex asset dispositions of closely-held businesses and commercial real estate. We also handle a wide variety of estate and trust controversy and litigation matters representing fiduciaries, heirs, beneficiaries and creditors in probate and trust proceedings and in disputes with the IRS.

Our wealth preservation practice is based on our expertise in a variety of areas. Our lawyers keep abreast of the continually changing tax and state laws and their implications for our clients. We are committed to helping families and individuals meet their personal estate planning goals.
