Our elder law practice embraces a holistic, client-centered approach to the practice of law which addresses the needs of our aging population and their families. The practice encompasses a wide variety of issues and expertise, including estate planning, powers of attorney, governmental benefits, public and private retirement plans and IRAs, guardianships, choosing appropriate long-term care, financing long-term care, Medicare and Medicaid planning, monitoring and advocating quality of care issues (elder abuse and neglect, nursing home litigation, patient rights, age and disability discrimination protection) and referrals to community support systems and other professionals, such as geriatric care managers and health care consultants. Many of the issues associated with elder law also have special relevance to disabled children and adults. Our group is particularly sensitive to the emotional, medical and financial needs of our senior clients and their families, particularly in crisis situations when an elderly client is no longer able to live independently due to physical or mental reasons, but yet wishes to retain as much personal authority as possible and be assured of a high quality of life. We tailor our advice and recommendations with these goals in mind.
