Baldwin Haspel and Burke & Mayer were two New Orleans based firms that recognized an opportunity to better serve their existing clients by combining their respective strengths. Baldwin Haspel, founded in 1914, has long been active in areas affecting business and personal finance. Its attorneys have particular expertise in the following practice areas: admiralty & maritime, bankruptcy, business, commercial & casualty litigation, energy/offshore, environmental, estate planning & probate, general business, labor & employment, mergers & acquisitions, and taxation. Burke & Mayer, established in 1971, started as a maritime firm and evolved into an organization providing diverse services to maritime and energy related industries, with an emphasis on litigation. The areas in which its attorneys have practiced include commercial litigation, environmental, general casualty, toxic torts, insurance coverage, products liability and labor & employment. Both firms have enjoyed success in representing local, regional and national clients.

In July, 2007, the firms officially merged into Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer, creating a full-service firm that prides itself on personal service for each of its clients. The new firm maintains the ability to streamline the delivery of services to meet changing client needs as part of its commitment to provide quality legal services in a timely, cost-efficient fashion.
