Karl Zimmermann is a partner in the firm practicing in the areas of taxation, mergers and acquisitions and estate planning. He represents closely held businesses and their owners providing tax, business and strategic planning. He has been involved in numerous public and private business acquisitions and dispositions mostly involving Louisiana business. Karl also has broad experience with international taxation issues and represents U.S. clients doing business outside the United States.
Karl is a Louisiana Board Certified Tax Attorney, a member of the Louisiana and New York bars and a member of the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has a BBA in Accounting from Loyola and received his law degree from Tulane in 1984 where he served on the Law Review and won the Moot Court Appellate competition. He received his LLM in Taxation from New York University in 1985.
Karl practiced with the New York firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett working on mergers, acquisitions and tax matters for five years. He returned to New Orleans and the firm in 1994 and is currently a member of the Executive Committee. Noteworthy:
